Creative Photography Journey

I first picked up a video camera, my dad's, in 2001 and got my first Canon PowerShot in 2004 at Circuit City in New Haven, CT while studying Physics at Yale.

In 2011, I received my first Canon DSLR, a Canon 6D, for Christmas. With experience using Photoshop since the early 2000s and traveling to over 40 countries, I’ve refined my photography skills across various styles. Post-pandemic, I explored sports photography as a competitive Olympic-style lifter (@cleanjerksnatch) and later transitioned to shooting with an iPhone Pro Max—a necessity after having kids and realizing two hands weren’t enough.

While my career began in finance, I shifted to data science/ML/AI in 2018, working at Morgan Stanley as Head of Client Analytics for fixed income quant strategy before founding my genAI startup, Readify (ireadifybooks.com), inspired by my oldest daughter's love of reading.

I’ve developed a unique skill set for preserving lasting memories in the digital age. I favor fast, no-flash prime lenses like the 24mm f/1.4 to immerse myself in the scene or the 135mm f/1.8 for capturing spontaneous moments, sports, and events. My kit also includes gear for studio work, flash and LED photography, and macro [product/food/jewelry, etc.] work from 1x-5x. I also carry a 14mm f/2.8 for landscapes, architecture, live-action, and astrophotography, along with the iconic 85mm f/2 for dramatic portraiture.
